The Blue Heron, Inc. is an Event Center which provides a full range of social, and business catering services in a beautiful natural setting, overlooking one of the area's loveliest golf courses. It occupies a colonial cape cod building especially designed for its unique needs. Owned and operated by Chef Anna Gonderman, who is a graduate of Indiana University and the California Culinary Academy with 37 years experience in the food industry. 
Located at the northeast corner of the Blackthorn Golf Course in the rapidly developing Blackthorn Corporate Park, The Blue Heron provides an airy country club ambiance featuring large open vistas overlooking two of the prettiest golf holes in Michiana. Nearby transportation and communication facilities are among the best in the Midwest. The Blackthorn Corporate Park is located at the junction of the Indiana Toll Road and the U.S. 31 bypass around South Bend. There is presently a direct access from the park to the Toll Road and the Bypass directly into the Park. It is adjacent to the South Bend Regional Airport, which features air, bus and rail transportation.
The Blue Heron marries the hominess of Cape Cod Colonial with the pragmatism of Prairie Architecture. Styled in the manner of a country club, the west view from the grand hall features ninety feet of windows and a sweeping veranda overlooking the 14th and 15th holes of the Blackthorn Golf Course, which has been featured in a national golf magazine. Set in the gently rolling glacial hills of northeastern Indiana; formal and informal gardens will enhance what nature has so graciously begun.
The grand ballroom is 4,500 square feet, which can be divided into three smaller 1500 square feet. rooms. In addition, there is a 1,200 sq.ft. pre-function/reception area which will provide great flexibility in the way that the grand hall can be utilized. Similarly, in good weather, the 1,170 sq.ft. veranda and 2,500 sq.ft patio can be used for outdoor dining, cocktail parties, buffet areas and other outdoor events.
